Trial name: New phytogenic feed supplement reduces PWD and enhances piglet performance
Year: 2022
Country / partners: Germany (commercial sow & piglet farm) • Freie Universität Berlin (Institute of Animal Nutrition) • R2 Agro A/S, Denmark (authors)
Post-weaning diarrhoea (PWD) is one of the fastest ways to lose performance—through poorer feed conversion, uneven growth, and more treatments. This trial tested InflaMove®, a phytogenic feed supplement, in a commercial German farm with a high E. coli incidence (~15%) in post-weaning piglets.
The objective was simple: document whether InflaMove® can improve faecal consistency, reduce the need for antibiotic treatments, and lift performance from day 25 to day 66 of age.

Results (key takeaways)
- Trial setup: 150 weaned piglets, 42-day trial, 3 groups: Control, +400 ppm InflaMove®, +800 ppm InflaMove®.
- Feed efficiency improved (high significance): Overall FCR improved from 1.57 (control) to 1.48 (400 ppm) and 1.45 (800 ppm) (P≤0.001).
- Daily gain increased: Overall DWG improved from 519 g (control) to 543 g (400 ppm) and 551 g (800 ppm) (P≤0.001).
- Early-phase impact (d1–14 post-weaning): FCR improved from 1.45 to 1.31–1.28, and DWG increased from 309 g to 337–348 g.
- PWD control: InflaMove® significantly improved faecal consistency (P≤0.01) and reduced the need for therapeutic antibiotic treatments compared to control.

Conclusion
In a commercial farm setting with clear PWD pressure, InflaMove® at 400–800 ppm delivered measurable improvements in FCR and daily gain, while also improving faecal consistency and lowering the need for antibiotic treatments linked to post-weaning gut disorders.
